Essentials of English Grammar and Composition: Teacher's Manual (1 - 8 )
Author: Rajendar Pal
Teacher’s Manual to Essentials of English Grammar and Composition has been prepared to meet a long-standing demand of teachers, parents and students who have been using this series. It covers eight parts of the series. It is primarily a key to the grammar and vocabulary exercises with an occasional hint on the teaching of some grammar items.
This Manual is designed to be a friend in need or a confidence-building accessory. The users of the books are expected to do the exercises on their own, but they can consult the Manual in case of difficulty or doubt, in which case it will prove to be a good friend. They can also use it to verify the correctness of their responses. If they find that their responses are correct, it will enhance their confidence. Ready availability of solutions will certainly encourage students to do self-study and parents to help their children. Teachers can use it as a quick reference to clarify their doubts,
if any.
A note of caution on the use of the Manual must be added here. A large number of exercises in the books admit multiple responses and it is for the teacher to determine the correctness of a particular response. This calls for great carefulness on the teacher’s part. Insistence on only one response is likely to destroy the students’ initiative and impair their ability to adapt language to their personal needs. Hence, all correct responses must be accepted. The ability to introduce flexibility in language is a merit that deserves appreciation. If this Manual is used with discretion, it will serve a very useful purpose.
