ICSE Practical Biology - IX
ICSE Practical Biology - IX
Author: V.K. Sharma
It is a great pleasure to present Practical Biology to the students of Class IX and their Biology teachers. The book is written strictly in accordance with the latest ICSE Biology syllabus.
The favourable response to the earlier editions has encouraged me to thoroughly revise and improve this edition to meet the requirements of both students and teachers more effectively.
The first two chapters are introductory in nature and the students must study them
before starting their Biology experiments in regular classes. Towards the end of the book five appendices have been given, which would assist them in
• preparing various reagents, fixatives and stains,
• collection of plants and animals, and
• learning the names of some common animals and plants.
The text has been written in simple language and the style of presentation will suit the requirements of the teacher as well as the understanding of student. Each chapter begins with the syllabus given at the top. It will help the students to know the content and the depth of what all they are expected to learn for their practicals. The introductory part of each chapter includes the discussion on the theoretical knowledge. It forms the basis of each experiment that the students will be performing in their practical class. All instructions regarding the experiments and dissections have been clearly given. The students are advised to follow them scrupulously. A systematic and scientific approach in their practicals shall yield optimum results. Each chapter has profusely illustrated text. The diagrams are simple, eye-catching and well-labelled. They complement the text and help in its comprehension.
