True Science: Textbook for CBSE Grade 7 (2026-27 Session)

TrueScience for CBSE Grade 7 continues the journey that began in Grade 6. The book
has been prepared strictly in accordance with the philosophy and recommendations of
National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and National Curriculum Framework for School
Education (NCF-SE) 2023 with an aim to provide competency-based education to
students with defined curricular goals. The content has been created with a balanced
view and lucid language, diligently avoiding personal biases. Essential details and
adequate information necessary for effective transaction of concepts have been
included in order to ignite curiosity and thought-provoking questions.
A student-friendly and interactive writing style has been adopted, supported by
illustrations, tables and flowcharts with an innovative approach. The concepts of
different science streams—biology, chemistry, physics and earth sciences—have been
interlinked with the cross-cutting themes including Indian knowledge system, value
education and environmental issues to provide experiential-based integrated learning.
The text is designed to promote understanding, inquisitiveness and develop important
skills among young minds who will find it interesting and informative.
The book comprises 12 Chapters. Chapter 1 provides an overview of the book,
summarising the scientific concepts covered in the rest of the Chapters, interlinking
different concepts and making students curious. Going forward, Learning Outcomes
have been added at the beginning of each chapter to familiarise students with the
key concepts discussed. The text has been designed with interesting stories and
real-life situations to enhance learners’ understanding. For better conceptual
understanding, each page has been carefully designed with related text, figures and
tables placed together, minimising the need for turning the page.
An outstanding illustration program with well-labelled artwork has been integrated
to augment concept clarity. Flowcharts and summary tables have also been used to
assist learners to integrate instructive information presented in a descriptive manner.
Numerous experiments, projects, discussions and activities have been introduced at
various places as transactional strategies to clarify concepts and provide hands-on
and collaborative learning. Activities are followed by interesting questions with the
objective to enhance students’ learning and understanding.
The Chapters have also been supplemented with extra information—‘Do you know’, ‘More to know’, ‘Interesting Fact’, ‘Source of Inspiration’—to keep pace with the novel work done in the relevant fields and inculcate scientific temper among students. Supplementing each Chapter with Keywords at the end ensures enhancement of students’ understanding and learning of the scientific terminologies. Ample projects and activities have been designed and provided in each Chapter, which will encourage students to explore, gather information and draw their own conclusions.
A concise, point-wise Summary at the end of each Chapter will acquaint students with key information and concepts. A point-wise Glossary has also been included in each Chapter to encourage students to think deeper. The Exercise section at the end of each chapter includes a variety of formats, e.g., Fill in the blanks, True/False, Odd one out, Match the following, HOTS, etc. Inclusion of thought-provoking
Image-based Questions, Case-based Questions, and Assertion and Reason Questions aims to ascertain augmentation of students’ understanding and learning capability.
